Sigma Technology Embedded Group is now launching Sigma Technology Embedded Talent, a new initiative that helps companies strengthen future competence in electrification, intelligent industry and digital solutions. The initiative will also contribute to ensuring that more junior engineers have the opportunity to develop in technologically advanced environments, with the support of senior specialist expertise, established development processes and R&D environments.

The demand for engineers in embedded, software and related technology areas remains high, while the complexity of projects and high delivery requirements at companies mean that recruitment often focuses on experienced specialists. The result is that fewer junior engineers have the opportunity to build the experience that the industry will need in the long term.

At the same time, AI and automation are changing job tasks and skill requirements, increasing the need for structured skills development. Sigma Technology Embedded Talent addresses this challenge. By combining junior engineers with senior specialists, established development processes and Sigma Technology’s R&D environments, customers can bring in new skills without compromising quality or delivery capability.

The initiative builds on Sigma Technology Embedded Group long-term work on introducing young engineers in the industry, through internships, thesis projects, R&D projects, and in-house and product development. Over the past year, a large number of students have been part of the company's technical environments, creating a proven model for how junior talents can be developed in close collaboration with experienced specialists.

– Last spring alone, we had over 20 students in our in-house projects, through internships and thesis projects. That's why Embedded Talent feels like a natural next step. We have the conditions to give young engineers the right support, a developing environment and good opportunities for a long-term career in technology, says Sanna Hövling, People & Talent Manager for Sigma Technology Embedded Talent.

Sigma Technology Embedded Talent is built on a modular approach where customers can choose the model that best matches their situation and goals, from junior expertise in customer assignments with support from senior specialists, to integrated teams and tailored competency programs.

– This is not just a talent initiative, but a way to develop the engineers of the future together with our customers. We are creating a model where learning, innovation and business benefit go hand in hand, says Michael Karlsson, CEO of Sigma Technology Embedded Group.

Sigma Technology launches Embedded Talent for the embedded engineers of the future

Sigma Technology launches Embedded Talent as a strategic initiative to develop future embedded engineers and strengthen the supply of skills in embedded development, embedded systems, product development, industrial automation, IoT, automotive industry and connected technical solutions.

The initiative connects junior engineers, students, internships, degree projects, customer assignments, senior specialists and industrial companies in a model where learning, innovation and business benefit go hand in hand.

What does this mean for Swedish companies?

For Swedish companies, Sigma Technology Embedded Talent means an opportunity to more quickly gain access to new technical expertise in embedded development, software development, hardware-based systems, real-time systems, IoT, automation and product innovation.

The initiative can help reduce the skills gap in the industry by creating clearer pathways from education to qualified engineering roles. Companies in need of embedded engineers can thus be supported by both junior skills and senior expertise in customer projects, integrated teams and tailored skills programs.

What does this mean for MSPs in the Nordics?

For MSPs, technology partners and Nordic IT providers, the initiative shows how skills provision is becoming an increasingly important strategic issue even outside traditional IT operations. As customers in industry, IoT, connected products and digital transformation need more embedded engineers, the need for partners who understand software, hardware, security, cloud, integration and lifecycle management also increases.

Embedded Talent may therefore become relevant for Nordic MSPs and technology companies that want to broaden their position towards industrial digitalization, smart products, cybersecurity, edge computing and connected systems.

Risks and opportunities

The opportunity with Sigma Technology Embedded Talent is to create a more structured path for young engineers into technology-intensive roles where demand is growing rapidly. Through mentorship, internships, thesis projects and customer-facing projects, junior talents can develop faster and contribute to innovation within Swedish industry.

The risk is that the skills shortage in embedded, AI, IoT, cybersecurity and industrial software will continue to grow unless more companies invest in long-term talent models. The industry needs to not only recruit ready-made specialists, but also build new paths for the engineers of the future.
