New findings from Barracuda Research show how quickly modern email attacks are evolving. A single phishing email led to identity theft, multi-factor authentication (MFA) bypass, and device compromise within minutes. It shows how quickly attacks can move beyond the inbox. The findings come from Barracuda’s Red Team, which conducted a full simulation of an AI-powered, multi-stage attack.
One in seven compromised accounts today is used to launch further attacks – a proportion expected to increase as AI-driven threat automation makes it easier to move between systems, increasing the risk to identities, systems and data.
