Företagen har ingått ett strategiskt partnerskap för att hjälpa europeiska företag att införa återanvändbara digitala identiteter genom privata digitala plånböcker, i linje med eIDAS 2.0.

Signicat and TrustTech have entered into a strategic partnership to help European businesses implement reusable digital identities through private digital wallets, in line with the EU’s upcoming eIDAS 2.0 regulation. The aim is to reduce the need for repeated identity checks while simplifying onboarding, authentication and electronic signing for regulated businesses.

The partnership combines Signicats platform for digital identity and trusted services with TrustTech's identity verification infrastructure, reusable compliance checks and trusted electronic signatures. Together, the companies aim to create a coherent identity chain where a user's verified identity only needs to be established once and can then be reused across systems, organizations and national borders.

In practice, the solution allows companies to replace fragmented identity checks, password-based authentication, and repeated signing processes with a unified flow based on private digital identity wallets, enabling faster registration, more secure login, and more efficient digital business processes.

The first phase of the collaboration targets the financial services, public sector, healthcare and pharmaceutical industries. In these industries, the use of private, EU-compliant digital wallets for both employees and customers is increasing, even before the full implementation of state-owned European identity wallets. The solution is expected to reduce administrative burden, strengthen security through password-free authentication and reduce the need for recurring identity checks in supply chains and partnerships.

According to Thijs Vink, Chief of Enterprise Central & Southern Europe at Signicat, regulated organizations face a growing need to manage identities across the entire customer and employee journey, from onboarding and access management to partner verification and digital signing. He believes that private digital wallets give companies the opportunity to start streamlining these processes today, rather than waiting for the broader rollout of public European identity wallets.

Rens Pennings, Chief Commercial Officer at TrustTech, emphasizes that customers, employees and business partners should not have to verify their identity over and over again. By combining TrustTechs reusable identity infrastructure with Signicats European reach, companies want to create faster onboarding, less manual work and secure digital identity flows that work across private wallets, industry-specific wallets and the European identity ecosystem of the future.

The partnership is a step towards the digital identity model that is expected to become central when eIDAS 2.0 is being fully implemented in the EU. By establishing a verified identity once and then reusing it across multiple services, companies can both improve the user experience and strengthen compliance with upcoming European regulations.
