Will automate investigation and actions

According to Palo Alto Networks, the planned integration will help security teams to:

  • Investigate security incidents.
  • Prioritize incidents and vulnerabilities.
  • Create workflows using natural language.
  • Connect data and actions from multiple security tools.
  • Automate parts of the response to identified threats.

The supplier describes the goal as making it possible for AI agents to carry out more steps in security work without each step needing to be programmed manually.

However, the announcement does not include any independent testing of the features' accuracy, time savings, or security, nor does it state what control mechanisms are in place to prevent incorrect or inappropriate automated actions.

Price and schedule missing

Palo Alto Networks has not disclosed the purchase price or other financial terms.

The company also does not indicate when the Console technology will become part of Cortex, which licenses will include the features, or whether existing customers will have access without new agreements.

The company warns in the announcement that features not yet released may change or be removed altogether. Therefore, the acquisition should not be interpreted as meaning that Console features are already available to Cortex customers.

Complete the deal during rapid growth

The acquisition was announced at the same time as Palo Alto Networks presented its fourth quarter 2026 results.

Revenue was $3.41 billion, up 34 percent year-over-year. Recurring revenue in Next-Generation Security reached $9.10 billion year-over-year, up 63 percent.

At the same time, the company reported a GAAP net loss of $282 million, compared to a profit of $254 million the previous year. Palo Alto Networks official quarterly report

For Nordic security partners and SOC operations, the key question will be how Console impacts the Cortex portfolio, partners' service deliveries, and the division of responsibilities when AI agents are given the opportunity to implement changes in customers' environments.
