Sweden's 100 best paying companies 2024

This year's best-paying company is Chinese telecom company Huawei – which has climbed to first place. Here, 194 employees receive an average annual salary of 2.3 million. In second place is a software company and in third place is a security company. For the first time, all companies on the top list give their employees over one million kronor in average annual salary. The majority operate in tech, investment and pharmaceuticals – but there are also housing companies, elite football teams and tobacco sellers.

Credit information company Creditsafe presents the companies that pay the highest average salary to their employees. The list includes Swedish limited liability companies with at least 50 employees and is based on the companies' own financial statements submitted to the Swedish Companies Registration Office.

The number of companies with millions in salaries is growing rapidly

This year's top salary list includes six companies that pay over two million kronor in average annual salary, where the first place also pays a million more than the second place. In just two years, the number of Swedish companies offering salaries in the million range has risen from 82 to a whopping 136. In addition, 17 of the 20 highest-paying companies have increased their salaries compared to the previous year.

– We see a clear increase in salaries on the top 100 list. These are successful companies that have developed strongly in the past year and that strive to attract the most qualified and ambitious talents. Inflation has likely contributed to the salaries being pushed up, and to retain the best, higher salaries are required, says Henrik Jacobsson, CEO of Creditsafe.

28 newcomers on the list

The first new company is the consulting company Oliver Wyman in ninth place, with an average annual salary of SEK 1,853,000. Next comes the joint project of the Nordic banks P27 Nordic Payments Platform, which lands in 12th place with an average salary of SEK 1,796,000 per employee.

Of the 28 new companies on this year's list is 10 pharmaceutical companies. However, overall, the number of pharmaceutical companies is the same as the previous year.

Well-filled salary envelopes in tech

Tech companies, finance companies and pharmaceutical companies make up 66 of the 100 highest paying companies and continue to dominate the payroll list. The biggest increase this year is in technology companies, and above all, more SaaS (Software as a Service) companies are taking up a larger place on the list.

– We see a record representation of technology companies on the payroll, which clearly reflects how the tech sector is leading the way in innovation and digital transformation. High salary levels, often combined with extensive bonus packages, demonstrate the tough competition for the best skills. It is not only about attracting new talent, but also about retaining key people who drive the companies' success, says Henrik.

High compensation is also found at several parent companies from industry and manufacturing, such as SSAB, Atlas Copco, Volvo, SKF, IKEA and Getinge. These are particularly global players with advanced technical solutions. The list also includes consulting companies, telecom giants, law firms and security companies.
