Informatica strengthens partnership with Snowflake through AI governance and headless data management

Informatica Strengthens Collaboration with Snowflake with New AI and Data Governance Capabilities Unveiled at Informatica World 2026 Informatica Strengthens Collaboration with Snowflake with New AI and Data Governance Capabilities Unveiled at Informatica World 2026
Informatica is introducing new capabilities for AI governance, headless data management, and open data formats in collaboration with Snowflake at Informatica World 2026.

LAS VEGAS – At Informatica World 2026, Informatica announced four new capabilities that deepen the company’s collaboration with Snowflake, the company behind the AI Data Cloud. The innovations include agent-based AI, headless data management, access control and support for open data formats, with the goal of helping enterprises develop and scale AI solutions faster, more securely and with higher data quality.

The new capabilities will give joint customers better opportunities to build, manage and scale enterprise AI initiatives on Snowflake's platform while maintaining data governance, security and transparency requirements.

– Businesses don’t just need fast AI, they need AI they can trust, says Rik Tamm-Daniels, Vice President of Ecosystems and Technology at Informatica.

“The innovations we are introducing with Snowflake help ensure that AI agents and analytics solutions are powered by high-quality, context-rich, and traceable data, empowering organizations to create business value with AI.”.

Chris Child, Vice President Product and Data Engineering at Snowflake, emphasizes the importance of the partnership.

“Snowflake is committed to helping enterprises build and scale AI applications and AI agents on a trusted and governed data platform. Informatica is a key partner in that effort. From one of the first MCP integrations into our Cortex AI ecosystem to unified governance of open data formats, these innovations empower our joint customers to act faster with AI without compromising governance or transparency.”.

Headless data management for Snowflake Cortex AI

One of the most significant news is that Informatica will be one of the first Snowflake partners to deliver a headless data management integration for Snowflake Cortex AI.

Developers building AI agents in Cortex AI can now call features from Informatica's Headless Intelligent Data Management Cloud (IDMC), including metadata lookup and address verification, directly from Cloud Data Governance and Catalog (CDGC).

This means that organizations can create AI agents with access to controlled and quality-assured data without having to build their own integrations or compromise on data quality and governance.

Headless IDMC is currently available in private preview, with general availability planned for summer 2026 release.

Centralized control of access policies

For organizations with high data protection and compliance requirements, Informatica is also introducing support for managing row-level access policies in Snowflake Tables through Cloud Data Access Management (CDAM).

This feature allows access rules to be defined centrally in CDAM and automatically deployed to Snowflake, eliminating the need for organizations to manually recreate policies across multiple environments.

The goal is to create a model where companies can define governance rules once and apply them consistently across the entire data landscape.

The feature is generally available globally.

Strengthened governance for open data formats and Iceberg tables

As more organizations build open data architectures, Informatica is also launching generally available CDGC scanners for Snowflake Managed Iceberg Tables.

The solution automatically extracts technical metadata, maps data provenance, and uses AI-based profiling to identify sensitive data.

In addition, the information is connected to business glossaries, data catalogs and governance policies regardless of where the data is stored.

Jotun sees value in expanded data governance

Gro Kamfjord, Chief Data Officer at Jotun, sees the new features as an important step in the company's work with data and AI governance.

“As we continue to advance our analytics and AI initiatives using Informatica and Snowflake, row-level access controls and increased visibility into metadata and data provenance for Snowflake Managed Iceberg Tables are becoming important components of our centralized data governance strategy.”.

– The innovations give us the opportunity to scale our governance standards and build an intelligent metadata environment that can evolve in step with our growing data and AI needs.
