”AI for Actual Work” increased Remote’s total AI usage by 52x in six months, and now the service is available free of charge to everyone
Many AI training courses assume that participants already have some knowledge of the technology, which raises the threshold for learning and can make it more difficult to put the knowledge into practice. That's why the founders of Remote, the global infrastructure provider for hiring and payroll, has developed its own AI course to provide the company’s approximately 2,000 employees with practical AI skills. ”AI for Actual Work” is designed to help employees use AI in their daily work, with no prior experience required. Now, Remote is opening up the free training to everyone.
”AI for Actual Work” is changing the way AI is learned by offering an accessible and practical way to integrate the technology into daily work across multiple functions, such as payroll, legal, customer experience, and sales. The training provides a comprehensive overview of practical use of AI, and consists of five steps: the basics (Ignite), choosing the right tools (Toolkit), developing AI agents (Harness), combining data and deploying solutions (Blueprint), and scaling the use (Showcase). The course is designed for people of all levels of AI knowledge and automatically saves the user's progress, allowing the user to continue learning at their own pace.
Responsible use is an integral part of the training. Users learn to identify risks, protect data, and maintain human judgment at every step. The service also teaches how to ask the right questions: is the task even suitable for AI, what data can be provided to the model, and will AI do the job better, or just faster?
Many organizations are currently considering how their employees can keep up with the rapid development of AI. Initially, Remote chose to develop the training for internal use and used it to train its own approximately 2,000 employees – from payroll administrators and lawyers to technical experts. As a result, AI usage at Remote increased 52 times in six months. After requests from other business leaders, Remote decided to open the service to everyone. The development of the service is led by the company's founder, Job van der Voort and Marcelo Lebre, who are strong advocates for AI use.
”AI is now part of the workplace and AI competence is becoming a fundamental skill at work. Ignoring it is like trying to ignore the internet in the late 1990s. At the same time, many are worried about falling behind. Most AI training starts in the wrong place and assumes that people already understand complex concepts and models. The earlier people develop their skills, the greater the opportunity they have to influence how their work changes. That’s why it was important for us to create a course that doesn’t require any prior knowledge – anyone who knows how to use a browser can get started,”, says Job van der Voort, CEO and co-founder of Remote.
The service is available free of charge to everyone on aiforactualwork.com
