Although 77 percent of organizations have updated their AI security strategies, only 26 percent are actually able to fully implement them.
The report Cloud Security Report 2026, points to a growing gap between ambition and reality as companies adopt AI services, AI agents and cloud-based workflows. At the same time, cybercriminals are increasingly using AI to automate phishing, develop malware and carry out attacks at a faster pace than before.
The report shows that 78 percent of organizations globally have experienced or suspect AI-related security incidents in the past year. At the same time, many companies feel that their current security architecture is not built for the new AI-driven developments. 
AI is changing not only how businesses work, but also how cyberattacks are carried out. Many organizations still lack sufficient control over how AI is used internally, what data is shared with external AI services, and how AI-powered systems communicate with each other. This creates new risks around data breaches, identity management, and access control.
The report also shows that:
- 88 percent believe that AI has made security work more complex
- 71 percent experience more false alarms in their security systems
- 48 percent see AI agents and APIs as a significant security risk
- 64 percent believe their current cloud architecture needs to be rebuilt to handle AI securely
– Many organizations are fully focused on implementing AI quickly, but security work has not kept up, says Oscar Rodin, security expert at Check Point Software. We are now seeing a clear shift where AI is both streamlining operations and at the same time giving cybercriminals new opportunities to automate and scale attacks. Businesses need to build security in from the start, not as an afterthought.
