Omada introduces Omada Identity Sovereign, digital sovereignty for regulated organizations

Omada Identity Sovereign strengthens digital sovereignty and identity governance in Europe Omada Identity Sovereign strengthens digital sovereignty and identity governance in Europe
Omada launches Identity Sovereign to help European organizations achieve higher levels of digital sovereignty and regulatory compliance.

Omada, Europe’s leading provider of Identity Governance and Administration (IGA), today announced Omada Identity Sovereign, a new solution that enables organizations to gain direct control over where and how their identity governance is deployed. The solution addresses the demands for digital sovereignty – including control over data, operations and jurisdiction – that regulated organizations cannot meet with standard cloud solutions.

Digital sovereignty is increasingly moving from being a preference to becoming a requirement in procurement in Europe's regulated industries. New European regulations that DORA, NIS2 and the proposed Cloud and AI Development Act makes jurisdictional control a requirement for regulatory compliance, rather than an option. At the same time, the US CLOUD Act, which gives US authorities the ability to demand access to data held by US technology providers, that European organizations must consider not only where their data is stored, but also who ultimately controls it.

Standardized cloud solutions, including cloud services from non-European providers that are marketed as sovereign, cannot eliminate this risk exposure. The actual circumstances that govern where data is de facto stored geographically do not ensure control over who operates the underlying infrastructure or which legal jurisdiction ultimately controls access to the data. For regulated organizations, this distinction is crucial – it can be the difference between meeting regulatory requirements and remaining exposed to risk.

This is a structural problem that only a truly European IGA provider can solve. As Europe's leading IGA provider, with a long history of supporting regulated organisations, Unseen a unique position to help customers meet the growing demands for digital sovereignty in a way that US providers cannot.

Omada Identity Sovereign extends Omada’s current portfolio with a fully containerized solution that customers can deploy and run on the infrastructure of their choice, completely independent of any specific cloud provider. This enables organizations to:

  • Deploy on any infrastructure, including in-house data centers, superior cloud providers, or partner-hosted environments
  • Get full feature parity with Omada Identity Cloud, including AI-powered capabilities, regardless of how or where the solution is deployed
  • Maintain full control over their data through customer-controlled encryption
  • Benefit from development and support that is entirely based within the EU

Together, these features help regulated European organizations meet SEAL-3, the highest level of digital sovereignty, for its identity governance by ensuring that the legal, operational and infrastructural levels remain under European control.

With Omada Identity Sovereign, Omada’s portfolio spans the full spectrum of operating models, from multi-tenant SaaS solutions to fully sovereign deployments on customer-controlled infrastructure. The solution is currently in development and is scheduled to be available in early 2027. Organizations evaluating sovereign operating options for identity governance can contact Omada to discuss their needs or visit omadaidentity.com for more information.

Jacob H. Kraglund, CEO of Omada, says: “The organizations we work with in financial services, critical infrastructure and the public sector face real and growing pressure to demonstrate that they have control over their most sensitive systems. Identity governance is at the heart of this, knowing who has access to what, who has approved it and being able to prove it when it really matters. But today the issues extend beyond that. Organizations need to know that the platform that controls access is also under their own control. It’s not just about where their data is, but also who can access it, under what regulations and on whose terms. Omada Identity Sovereign addresses just that. The solution enables customers to implement and run identity governance on any infrastructure – without having to compromise on the functionality, including AI-powered capabilities, that a modern cloud solution offers.”
