Altair a global leader in computational intelligence, is proud to welcome Meridian Flight Systems to Altair Aerospace Startup Acceleration Program (ASAP). Within ASAP, Meridian will use Altair's next-generation software for simulation, data analysis and high-performance computing (HPC) as well as technical support to improve the development of the unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Corra and its Hybrid Electric Range-Extending Microturbine Energy System (HERMES).
A strategic collaboration for innovation in UAV technology
“Meridian is another great addition to ASAP. We are excited to partner with them to drive innovation and development of UAVs,” said Pietro Cervellera, Senior Vice President Aerospace and Defense, Altair. “With our world-class software and technical support, we look forward to seeing what technologies are coming out of The Corra and HERMES projects.”
“Joining ASAP represents a significant step in our mission to develop breakthrough UAV and hybrid power technologies,” said Saïf-Deen Akanni, Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technical Officer, Meridian Flight Systems. “Altair’s world-class software solutions and technical expertise will be critical in optimizing the design and performance of the Corra UAV, while also advancing the development of HERMES (Hybrid Electric Range-extending Microturbine Energy System) accelerated towards achieving airworthiness certification and operational readiness.”
Key aspects of the collaboration between Altair and Meridian
Altair's solutions and guidance will enable Meridian to optimize design processes, perform sophisticated simulations and accelerate projects Corra UAV and HERMES from concept to certification and deployment. The most important aspects of the collaboration include:
- Comprehensive access to software: Meridian will use Altair's advanced simulation and optimization software, which covers aerodynamics, structural integrity, aeroelasticity and thermal systems.
- Dedicated technical support: Altair provides expert advice to ensure the effective application of its software in complex aerospace projects.
- Research collaboration initiatives: Both companies will write research papers together and present them at industry conferences, sharing insights and new data from the Corra UAV and HERMES projects.
The future of the Corra UAV and the HERMES projects
Meridian will demonstrate how Altair’s simulation tools facilitate the design, performance and certification processes for both the Corra UAV and HERMES projects. This collaboration exemplifies a shared commitment to driving innovation in the aerospace industry through rigorous analysis, data-driven research and broad knowledge dissemination.
