Norwegian technology company Intermediary AS has developed what the company describes as Norway’s first comprehensive digital infrastructure for EU companies looking to establish operations in Norway. The solution aims to simplify and automate the entire process of company registration, regulatory compliance and digital onboarding for foreign companies.
By combining electronic identification, automated checks and integrations with European business registers, Intermediary aims to reduce the administrative complexity often associated with cross-border establishment.
At the same time, the company has become part of the Made in Norway program, strengthening its position as a supplier of Norwegian-developed digital technology for international markets.
Digitizing the establishment process in Norway
For many European companies, establishing a business in Norway involves a comprehensive process with legal requirements, identity checks and registration with multiple authorities. Intermediary's platform is developed to bring these steps together into a coherent digital flow.
The solution makes it possible to establish both Norwegian limited companies (AS) and Norwegian branches (NUF) through a digital process where verification, document management and signing are done electronically.
Through integrations with European business registers and verified identity solutions, large parts of the process can be automated while maintaining security and regulatory compliance requirements.
Built on digital identity and automated compliance
The platform uses electronic identities that meet regulatory requirements and combines this with automated AML and PEP checks, passport verification and qualified electronic signatures (QES).
According to the company, the solution is based on the principle that already verified information should be able to be reused throughout the customer journey instead of being registered multiple times.

“Our technology is based on a simple principle: data should be shared and reused, not recorded over and over again. By using verified information throughout the process, we reduce administration, lower costs and create a smoother experience for companies establishing themselves across national borders,”, says Morten Ims from Intermediary.
Noted innovation in digital entrepreneurship
Intermediary states that the solution has undergone a patentability review by the Norwegian Patent Office, which, according to the company, confirms that the method represents a new innovation in digital company formation and cross-border onboarding.
The company has also been nominated for the Norwegian Digitalization Prize 2026, which recognizes innovative digital solutions in the public and private sectors.
In addition, Intermediary has received the Quality Stamped and Validated Innovations award from the European Innovation Council (EIC), further strengthening the company's position in the field of digital infrastructure and international business establishment.
EU Data Act drives the need for digital processes
A key driver behind this development is the increasing demands for digitalization and data sharing within Europe. According to Intermediary, regulations such as the EU Data Act will increase the need for secure, automated and cross-border processes for companies operating in multiple markets.
The company sees particularly great potential among small and medium-sized companies that need to register operations, handle VAT issues or establish a legal presence in Norway.
Denmark currently serves as a pilot market where several companies are already using the platform to establish operations through the automated integration solutions.
Made in Norway strengthens trust internationally
By joining the Through the Made in Norway program, Intermediary wants to make it clear that the company's technology is developed and operated in Norway. and is based on Norwegian standards for security, data protection and regulatory compliance.
According to the company, the label helps strengthen the trust of international customers who are looking for reliable digital solutions for establishing themselves in the Norwegian market.
“The marking Made in Norway strengthens our brand and acts as a seal of quality for international companies. It shows that our platform is built on Norwegian standards for security, transparency and compliance,”, says Morten Ims.

Aiming to become Europe's leading establishment platform
Intermediary Our long-term ambition is to become the leading digital infrastructure for companies establishing operations across national borders within Europe.
By combining automated regulatory compliance, digital identity verification and integrated regulatory processes, the company aims to create a faster, safer and more cost-effective path for European companies looking to expand into new markets.
