Billo and Klarna start collaboration – to make it easier to plan everyday finances

Billo, the innovative upstart and Sweden's only digital mailbox approved by both the Swedish Digital Authority (Digg) and the Swedish Financial Supervisory Authority, today launches a collaboration with Klarna, the AI-powered global payment network and shopping assistant. Through the collaboration, Billo will be the first digital mailbox to soon be able to offer Klarna as a payment method, giving Swedish consumers new opportunities to manage their everyday finances completely digitally.

With Klarna as an integrated payment solution, Billo users can easily pay bills directly in the app. The new collaboration is the first of its kind, and strengthens both Klarna and Billo's positions as innovative players that simplify everyday life for consumers.

Klarna recently launched Klarna Saldo, a service that allows consumers to store money in an account with Klarna, transfer money between the Klarna account and external bank accounts, and collect cashback on purchases. With Klarna Balance, consumers also receive interest on the balance. In the first six weeks alone, more than 500,000 Swedes used the service, earning a combined 29 million kronor. The collaboration with Billo now also makes it possible to earn interest on the money used to pay bills.

It will always be possible to choose direct payment with Klarna, and use Klarna Saldo, but the ability to pay later will be limited for previously due bills and categories such as insurance and tax. The categories that are limited will be evaluated continuously and Klarna will conduct a credit assessment with each payment just like with regular purchases.

– We want Klarna to be available everywhere where we can make everyday life easier for consumers, whether it's shopping, services or paying bills. Through the collaboration with Billo, "We make it easier for users to manage their finances in a smooth and secure way, while giving them access to all the benefits of Klarna Saldo," says Björn Bryngelson, Nordic Head at Klarna.

– That we now has established a partnership with Klarna, which is a leading global player with a strong focus on expansion, means that we are gearing up and can continue to build the digital infrastructure of the future for mail, documents and payments. Billo is so much more than just a digital mailbox and we are constantly working to develop new services that simplify everyday life for our users, says Johan Eklöf, co-founder and CEO at Billo.
