Slackbot AI agents are in focus as Slack launches over 30 new features to coordinate workflows and AI in businesses.
With over 30 new features in Slackbot, Slack aims to make the platform a more cohesive place for how humans and AI agents work together. The goal is for more of your daily work to happen directly in Slack, without having to switch between different systems.
As more and more companies use AI agents in their daily work, the need to keep workflows together also increases.
“When apps, business data and AI agents don’t interact, it becomes difficult to get the most out of the technology. Employees have to decide for themselves which agent to use, while context is lost between different systems. It means more hassle than benefit,” says Per Fredriksson, technical manager at Salesforce Sweden.

To solve it as Per Fredriksson calls “agent chaos”, Slackbot is being built now out of a personal assistant to a more coordinating function in Slack for the entire company.
“Slackbot will become an orchestrating superagent. Instead of employees themselves having to keep track of which tools are available and when they should be used, Slackbot will do that work,” he says, continuing:
– You simply shouldn't have to look for the right agent or know who is a specialist in what. It's enough to describe what you want to achieve.
Other new features include voice control, searches in Slack, Google Drive and the web as well as meeting notes in real time.
Slack is also launching CRM support on the platform, where small businesses can manage customer relationships with Slackbot directly in Slack without needing a separate system.
– An advantage compared to standalone AI tools is that Slack is already the place where daily work happens. Slackbot therefore does not need to be built from scratch, but uses the security, permissions and data that already exist in the company's system.

The new features in Slack are now being rolled out broadly, but have already been tested by several companies. One of them is Norwegian ReMarkable, which now handles 35 percent of its customer service cases via Slack.
Engine, an American company that manages travel and expenses for companies, describes Slackbot as a solution that creates order in work and saves 30 minutes per employee per day. Engine launched its first AI agent in twelve days and now handles over 50 percent of all cases without human intervention.
On Salesforce uses Slackbot to introduce new employees, provide real-time support to salespeople during customer meetings, and ensure quality customer conversations. Around 55,000 employees use Slackbot, saving an average of 97 minutes per employee per week.
Per believes that the new features are a necessary step to help companies get better use of AI.
– Companies today have access to more intelligence and more tools. But if the technology doesn't reach the right teams in the right context, it will be difficult to get real benefit from it. With the new features in Slackbot, all workflows are woven together.
