NordVPN passes independent privacy test for the fifth time

NordVPN, a leading cybersecurity company, underwent an independent audit at the end of 2024, in order to maintain a high level of transparency and trust. The audit was conducted by Deloitte, one of the market leaders "Big Four"-companies, who had full access to NordVPN's services for a month.

For the fifth time in NordVPN's history, independent reviewers verify the company's commitment to not storing user data – in line with its privacy pledges.

Audit Implementation and Scope

During the independent review, interviewed Deloitte employees at NordVPN and inspected both the server infrastructure and logs. They had access to NordVPN's services from November 18 to December 20, 2024 and checked privacy-relevant configuration settings and deployment processes for regular VPN, Double VPN, Onion Over VPN, obfuscated servers and Peer-to-Peer (P2P) servers.

International Standards and Assessment

The review of NordVPN's configuration and management of IT systems and the assessment was made in accordance with International Standard on Assurance Engagements 3000 (Revised) (ISAE 3000), as established by International Auditing and Assurance Standards Board (IAASB).

Previous Independent Reviews

NordVPN's first independent test was conducted in 2018, followed by a second, third, and fourth evaluation in 2020, 2022, and 2023, respectively, the latter two of which were conducted by Deloitte. These were now followed up by the fifth independent review, which was conducted in the final weeks of 2024.
