Cisco has announced the opening of a Point of Presence (PoP) for cloud-based security solutions in Sweden, to help customers protect their users, infrastructure and investments from threat actors. The announcement is part of Cisco’s continued work to strengthen operations locally and within the EU with flexible security solutions and services that offer low latency, high availability and high resiliency, while helping to comply with regulations around domestic data management.
Cisco's Security Service Edge (SSE) PoP was quietly launched in November 2024. The PoP, which is based in the Stockholm region, is part of Cisco's work to offer high-quality cloud services in Sweden, which previously included the opening of a Cisco Umbrella Data Center in 2020.
Benefits for Swedish Businesses and the Public Sector
“Today’s opening is a testament to Cisco “We are committed to rapidly expanding our global reach and offering advanced cloud-based security solutions and protection to our customers,” says Per Samuelsson, CEO of Cisco Sweden. “Many of our Swedish customers are businesses that are already well along in their cloud journey and are global organizations. They demand the best possible level of security and performance, delivered seamlessly and without complexity. A local Pop helps them achieve this. In addition, a PoP in Sweden contribute to lowering the thresholds for public sector operations to use cloud-based security solutions.”
Ciscos PoP will support the company's cloud services, including the SSE solution Cisco Secure Access. Businesses will be able to leverage the benefits of Cisco's SSE PoP combined with the scalability of the public the cloud. Cisco Secure Access helps organizations solve a variety of security challenges using modern protocols to deliver superior performance and connectivity.
Users can now securely and seamlessly access all the resources and apps they need, regardless of protocol, port, or application-specific solutions. As a result, customers can stop relying on a myriad of disparate security products that are not designed to support today's highly complex IT environments. Cisco Secure Access automates decisions about how users connect to Internet, software-as-a-service (SaaS) and private applications both in the cloud and on-premises data center, which removes complexity and helps increase productivity.
