Unit4, a leading provider of cloud-based ERP solutions for people-centric organizations, is now opening up its AI capabilities to the mid-market segment. New and existing Unit4 ERP customers can test the capabilities – tailored for service-intensive industries – with no commitment, provided they sign up before December 2026.
The aim is to empower mid-market companies to leverage AI for innovation, reduce manual and repetitive tasks, improve decision-making and build tangible business value around AI, freeing up time for the work that really matters. When the initiative ends on August 31, 2027, customers can either switch to a subscription to Unit4’s AI capabilities or stop using the technology. However, Unit4 believes that continued experimentation is critical for the mid-market segment to realize the full potential of AI.

As part of “AI for Your World” customers gain access to Unit4's AI assistant Ava, short for Advanced Virtual Agent. Ava responds to natural language queries via tools like Microsoft Teams, delivering relevant information directly to the user, and providing guidance and insights – without the user having to switch between different applications. The AI capabilities work across Unit4's ERPx platform and include processes in finance, HR, purchasing and project management.
Customers will have full access to the AI tools within a generous usage cap, set high enough for daily use – without the risk of unexpected costs. To test the AI features without a subscription, new and existing customers must sign up by December 31, 2026. Usage can be terminated at any time up until the end date of August 31, 2027.
“The mid-market segment has always been a growth engine for economies around the world, and we want to be part of building a new generation of AI-powered mid-market winners,”, says Simon Paris, CEO of Unit4. “The ‘AI for Your World’ initiative underscores our commitment to helping our customers experiment with AI functionality without the worry of contractual obligations. We believe this no-obligation approach will be a driver of faster innovation and productivity – giving teams back time for the work that matters most.”
Unit4's AI strategy is based on four principles
Designed for your reality. Most business systems record what has happened. ERPx understands the meaning of that, thanks to 40 years of industry knowledge built into the foundation – not added afterwards. This makes the system a “system of reason”: customers get up and running faster thanks to ready-made industry-adapted workflows and get a business system that reasons based on meaning, instead of having to be configured from scratch.
You remain in control. Governance is built into the architecture, not tacked on. Every action is kept within your rules, maintained by an engine of policies, thresholds, and delegation, and can always be traced back to a named person and reconstructed in its entirety. This makes audits painless, while protecting data through customer isolation, data localization, and no training on public language models.
The system gets smarter over time. ERPx learns as it is used in more tasks – each cycle (assignment, grant, contract period, payroll process) feeds the model, per customer and within each jurisdiction. Ava coordinates agents in finance, projects and HR to provide a unified overview, and industry-specific pattern recognition allows problems to be detected early.
Built for the future. AI is constantly evolving, which is why Unit4 has designed its strategy to be model-independent. The business context layer is independent of individual models, so new features can be incorporated instead of forcing refactorings, while the control layer can adapt to new regulations and governance models as they arise.
“AI will only be effective for mid-market organizations if it is embedded in an intelligent core that speaks our customers” industry language fluently,”, adds Claus Jepsen, CTO at Unit4. “Our customers have a head start when they use our AI with ERPx because the system is built with their needs in mind. It gets smarter the more it is involved in the work, ensuring that institutional knowledge remains in the system and drives productivity. It is auditable and data is protected, so our customers can feel confident about regulatory compliance – and it is model-independent to avoid lock-in to a single language model.”
