Gustav Lagercrantz, CEO of Monterro, in connection with the launch of Monterro Enclave, a European AI infrastructure platform for software companies.

Monterro, one of Europe’s leading software growth investors, is launching Monterro Enclave, a common European AI infrastructure platform for its portfolio companies. The platform will offer a European alternative to the global technology providers that currently dominate AI infrastructure, combining data sovereignty, predictable costs and flexible access to leading AI models.

Monterro continues to invest in the European software ecosystem by offering a common AI infrastructure platform, described as LLM Infrastructure as a Service, for its portfolio companies.

The platform, named Monterro Enclave, combines lower and more predictable operating costs with complete data sovereignty and flexible access to leading AI models.

The platform is powered entirely by European-owned and European-hosted infrastructure. Portfolio companies gain access to leading LLM models through a single API, without having to negotiate separate vendor agreements. Data remains within the controlled environment, while costs become more predictable and independent of rising token consumption.

The offering is part of Infuse AI, Monterro's AI initiative which will help companies develop and grow in the AI era.

– Every European software company faces the same challenges: rising token costs, a deep dependence on US cloud providers, and growing demands for data sovereignty for regulatory and security reasons. Most companies try to solve these problems individually. We believe this is the wrong approach, says Gustav Lagercrantz, CEO of Monterro.

For software entrepreneurs who collaborate with Monterro The investment offers several advantages.

Cost-effectiveness

Fixed infrastructure costs replace API expenses based on token consumption. As AI usage grows across multiple products and workflows, costs remain stable until additional capacity is needed. Additionally, portfolio companies receive access to AI infrastructure at cost.

Data sovereignty

AI processing takes place entirely on European infrastructure under European ownership. No data leaves the controlled environment. For companies in, for example, banking, insurance, pharmaceuticals and the public sector, this means a concrete response to the increasing demands made by procurement teams and regulatory authorities.

No lock-in to a single AI model

The platform is model agnostic and allows for the use of multiple AI models depending on the task. One model may be better at planning, another at text generation, and a third at quality assurance of the results.

The platform can route the right task to the right model, combine results, apply policies, and handle situations where a model does not deliver the desired results, giving portfolio companies access to advanced AI functionality without having to deal with the underlying technical complexity.

The model-agnostic architecture also reduces strategic dependency on a single AI infrastructure provider. As export controls, regulatory changes, and geopolitical factors impact access to advanced AI technology, companies that build their solutions around a single model face increasing operational risks.

Monterro's platform enables portfolio companies to change underlying models without having to change their integrations or disrupt existing operations.

The initiative reflects Monterro's broader value creation strategy, where the goal is to provide software entrepreneurs with not only capital but also practical support and shared capabilities that help them grow faster and compete more effectively in the AI era.

“AI infrastructure is becoming as fundamental to software companies as cloud infrastructure was a decade ago. We believe it should be treated as a shared strategic capability, not a problem that each portfolio company must solve on its own,”, concludes Gustav Lagercrantz.
