IT-Total launches 90-day plan to meet faster cyberattacks – Published by IT-Branschen

Cyber threats to Swedish businesses are increasing at a record pace and the demand for shorter time horizons in cybersecurity work is growing. To meet this new reality, we are launching IT Total now the 90-day plan. The concept complements the traditional annual cycle and gives businesses the speed needed when the antagonists are increasing their pace with new technology and AI.

The development is driven by increasingly faster attacks. Two years ago, the average time from a click to full control was 1 hour and 12 minutes – today it is 29 minutes. Antagonists use AI to scan for vulnerabilities and carry out lateral movements in digital systems. At the same time, statistics show that 40 percent of cyberattacks exploit vulnerabilities from 2020 or older, highlighting that many organizations have not yet addressed the shortcomings that enable intrusions.

Safety work like a sprint in a marathon

Cybersecurity has historically been conducted through static annual plans, but a 365-day cycle is not enough against attacks that are measured in minutes. With a global average cost of 44 million SEK to recover from an attack, the demands on both preparedness and systematicity are increasing. IT-Total notes that the work must be conducted differently in a world characterized by geopolitical unrest and cyber warfare.

– We need to keep the annual cycle but at the same time think new. With the 90-day plan, we are establishing a systematic way of working with shorter cycles, where relevant main areas are evaluated every 90 days, says Diego Lopez, Head of Cyber Security at IT-Total.

Security that enables innovation

The concept focuses on balancing risk mitigation with the need to be an efficient and digitalized organization. IT Total emphasizes that digital development must no longer be slowed down by security concerns. The mission is instead about identifying directives that provide both mandate and progress while equipping the organization. The goal is security that promotes rather than inhibits innovation.

– We cannot be naive, but we should not go back to paper and pen either. We must adapt how we manage operations in the situation we are in now. We want Swedish organizations to be learning and innovative, and this requires shorter cycles to manage an environment that is changing rapidly, concludes Diego Lopez.
