Westcon-Comstor is approaching its 2030 climate target after reducing its Scope 1 and Scope 2 greenhouse gas emissions by 42 percent since 2022. At the same time, the company continues to increase its use of renewable energy.
Westcon-Comstor, a global technology distributor focused on cybersecurity, networking and hybrid cloud solutions, today announced that the company has reduced its greenhouse gas emissions within Scope 1 and Scope 2 by 42 percent since 2022. At the same time, the use of renewable electricity continues to increase.
This development means that the company is ahead of its plan to reach the goal of reducing combined Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 50 percent by 2030.
Renewable energy sources now account for 54 percent of Westcon-Comstor's global electricity use, up from 50 percent the previous year, bringing the company closer to its goal of having all of its electricity purchased come from renewable energy sources by the end of the decade.
Progress towards the climate goals validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) is reported in the company's latest Responsible Business Report, which summarizes Westcon-Comstors environmental, social and governance (ESG) performance during the fiscal year ended February 28, 2026 (FY26).
During the year, Westcon-Comstor has strengthened its ESG reporting through improved data collection, updated methodologies and strengthened internal controls.
The fiscal year FY26 also marks the company's first reporting period aligned with European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS), as part of preparations for compliance with the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD).
The report, published today, also highlights several environmental initiatives implemented during FY26, including:
- Installation of electricity meters at strategically important offices and logistics facilities.
- Integration of environmental key metrics into the company's self-service reporting tools.
- Introduction of global guidelines for responsible business travel.
Additionally, renewable energy is now being produced on-site at key operations in the UK and Australia.
Going forward, plans Westcon-Comstor to expand purchases of renewable electricity outside Europe and introduce a global company car policy where electric and hybrid vehicles are prioritized.
The report also describes the company's continued work to strengthen the reporting of Scope 3 emissions through closer collaboration with suppliers, broader data coverage and improved calculation methods.
In FY26, Scope 3 emissions increased by 6 percent, primarily due to business growth and increased manufacturing, distribution and use of hardware products. At the same time, the company believes that better access to supplier-specific data will enable more targeted efforts to reduce emissions going forward.
“Our latest Responsible Business Report demonstrates significant progress, both in terms of our environmental performance and the maturity of our ESG governance and reporting,”, says Laura Mozden, Global Head of ESG at Westcon-Comstor.
“The progress we have made in emissions reductions and the use of renewable electricity is encouraging, but there is still a lot of work to be done. The biggest challenge is to reduce emissions across our entire value chain. Therefore, we will continue to focus on improving data quality and deepening collaboration with channel partners and suppliers, while further developing the governance and reporting frameworks required to create long-term sustainability improvements.”
“Expectations on ESG are becoming increasingly structured and it is important that companies can demonstrate concrete and measurable results,”, says David Grant, CEO of Westcon-Comstor.
“While we are proud of the progress we have made, we see sustainability as a strategic business priority, not a collection of short-term goals. Real change will require even stronger collaboration across the value chain and the broader technology ecosystem. Our focus remains on supporting our partners and suppliers in building a more resilient and sustainable IT pipeline.”
