The Heads of Agreement provides the framework for the potential production of an additional 20 Gripen aircraft in partnership with Embraer, and both companies intend to enter into corresponding agreements in 2026.
Saab and Embraer announced today that they have entered into an agreement in principle that provides the framework for a potential production of an additional 20 Gripen aircraft at Embraer's industrial complex in Gavião Peixoto, in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Embraer will be responsible for the assembly of the aircraft and will serve as a complement to Saab's final assembly line in Linköping to meet global demand for the Swedish fighter aircraft.
The agreement marks another milestone in the ten-year partnership between the two companies, strengthening delivery capacity within a globally integrated manufacturing model, creating greater flexibility to meet future customer requirements and growing international demand.

Embraer's Gavião Peixoto (GPX) facility has established itself as a strategic industrial hub with advanced manufacturing capabilities, highly specialized expertise and large production capacity. It demonstrates the strength of the partnership between Saab and Embraer while contributing to increased industrial production and creating opportunities for continued growth in high-tech aircraft programs.
After more than a decade of collaboration, the partnership between Saab and Embraer developed into a strong example of innovation, industrial development and knowledge transfer.
Through extensive technology transfer and on-the-job training within the ongoing Gripen program for the Brazilian Air Force (FAB), engineers, test pilots, technicians, fitters and maintenance specialists have been trained and qualified in Sweden. The collaboration has strengthened the skills and working methods of both companies and created long-term benefits through the development of advanced industrial capabilities and new opportunities for future growth.
