“Collaboration and email platforms are critical systems that help organizations manage knowledge, decisions and sensitive information in their daily work. Our new collaboration platform gives customers a superior, European solution for these functions while maintaining full control over their data,” says Rohan Narula, CEO of Cleura.

Strategic partnership with Nextcloud

As part of the launch, Cleura is also entering into a strategic partnership with Nextcloud, the European provider of modular, open source collaboration software. Nextcloud has for several years profiled itself as a strong advocate for European digital sovereignty and open standards.

The partnership will see Cleura integrate selected Nextcloud features into its new platform. The collaboration also includes joint market development, technical integration and business collaboration to offer organizations a complete European alternative for digital collaboration.

“By working closely with Nextcloud, we can complement our broader service offering with proven collaboration capabilities based on open source. The partnership reflects a shared commitment to transparency, open standards and customer control, while helping customers access modern services for productivity, communication and collaboration in a superior European cloud infrastructure,” says Rohan Narula, CEO of Cleura.

A European alternative to global cloud platforms

Interest in European cloud services and digital sovereignty has grown significantly in recent years, with more and more public authorities and businesses seeking options that provide greater control over sensitive information, regulatory compliance and data storage within Europe.

Through the combination of Cleuras European cloud infrastructure and Nextcloud's open collaboration platform, the two companies want to offer a secure and transparent alternative to the dominant global technology platforms.

“Digital sovereignty is a shared commitment and requires strong local partners. Together with Cleura, we can offer Swedish public organizations a secure and transparent alternative to the big tech platforms,” says Frank Karlitschek, founder and CEO of Nextcloud.

Focus on the public sector and regulated activities

The new platform is aimed specifically at governments, municipalities, regions and companies in regulated industries where data security, privacy and compliance requirements are high. By bringing together communication, document management and collaboration in a European cloud environment, organizations are able to reduce their dependence on services outside the EU while maintaining modern work tools.

The launch comes at a time when issues around digital sovereignty, cybersecurity and control over business-critical information have become increasingly important for both the public and private sectors.

Cleura is now accepting applications for early access to the platform and announces that further information about general availability will be presented in the fall of 2026.
