The IT security company Check Point Software today published its Cloud Security Report 2025, which highlights serious shortcomings in cybersecurity Based on a global survey of more than 900 IT security executives and employees, the report highlights serious systemic vulnerabilities that include fragmented tools and an inability to protect against AI-driven attacks – leaving companies in a vulnerable position.
In an era where hybrid and cloud solutions are becoming more common, many businesses still rely on outdated security models that are not up to par. According to the report, 65 percent of businesses have experienced a cloud-related incident in the past year – up from 61 percent last year. Only 9 percent discovered the incident within an hour, and a measly 6 percent managed to fix it within that time frame – allowing cybercriminals to remain undetected.
By adopting With a security strategy that prioritizes preventative measures, businesses can act proactively and close vulnerabilities and gaps in their defenses. The report advises companies to consolidate their tools, implement AI-powered threat detection to detect and prevent threats in real time, and gain complete visibility into their cloud environment.
“Security teams are chasing an ever-changing target,” says Mats Ekdahl, security expert at Check Point Software. As cloud environments become increasingly complex and AI-driven threats proliferate, organizations can no longer afford to rely on fragmented tools and outdated methodologies. It’s time to replace them with unified, intelligent, and automated defense systems—built to handle today’s cyber landscape.
Some of the most important takeaways from the report:
