A central part of the deepened collaboration is the Swedish Board of Agriculture’s growing AI work. The agency has established an AI lab where CGI contributes expertise primarily in AI governance, ethics and regulatory compliance – areas that are becoming increasingly important with the introduction of the EU’s AI Act. The AI lab serves as an engine for innovation and development of methods, guidelines and solutions that make AI a safe and integrated part of operations.

The work has resulted in the internal AI assistant Ragnar, which runs entirely on the Swedish Board of Agriculture's own servers. The solution enables the handling of sensitive information with full control and can be adapted to the agency's needs, as it is based on open source.

”The AI lab is an important part of our journey towards becoming a data-driven agency. We want to use AI to free up time, make better decisions and strengthen our preparedness. By building internal capabilities and collaborating with trusted partners like CGI, we create the conditions for the safe and sustainable use of AI throughout the organization,”, says Anna Miller, AI strategist and head of the AI lab at the Swedish Board of Agriculture.

CGI's AI capabilities in the public sector have been recognized internationally by the analysis firm IDC MarketScape, which positioned CGI as a Leader in Worldwide AI Services for State and Local Government 2025. In Sweden, CGI has over 1,500 employees working with the public sector and is a full-service provider in the transition to a modern and digitalized public administration. CGI supports authorities throughout the entire value chain – from needs analysis and strategy to implementation and long-term management.
