“5th Gen AMD EPYC Embedded processors deliver market-leading performance and enhanced resiliency to organizations. They are designed to operate continuously in demanding, always-on environments with the highest levels of security.

AMD EPYC Embedded 9005 Series – High Core Density and Energy Efficiency

Industry-leading computing power

AMD EPYC Embedded 9005 processors are built to handle computationally intensive tasks in embedded systems. They offer:

  • Core count from 8 to 192 in a single socket.
  • Up to 1.6x increase in computing capacity for networking and storage workloads.
  • Ideal for firewall platforms, storage systems and industrial control applications.

Energy efficiency and memory capacity

The new The Zen 5c core architecture provides significant improvements in both performance and energy efficiency:

  • Up to 1.3x higher socket throughput.
  • 1.3x better performance per watt compared to competitors.
  • Support for up to 6TB of DDR5 memory per socket.
  • 160 PCIe Gen5 lanes with CXL 2.0 for fast data transfer and storage capacity expansion.

Application-specific features – Tailored for embedded systems

Long life and stability

To meet the industry's demands for long-term sustainability, we offer AMD 7-year production supportThis ensures that companies can minimize costly redesigns and maintain product stability over time.

Advanced security and resilience

The AMD EPYC Embedded 9005 series includes several features that protect against system failures and security threats:

  • Non-Transparent Bridging (NTB): Improves system redundancy and failover in network and storage systems.
  • DRAM Flush: Protects data against loss in the event of a power outage critical storage solutions.
  • Dual SPI (Serial Peripheral Interface): Enables safe and proprietary bootloader to strengthen the platform's security.

Efficient application development

Developers can easily implement embedded systems thanks to:

  • Support for The Yocto framework, which simplifies the creation of customized Linux distributions.
  • SPDK (Storage Performance Development Kit) and DPDK (Data Plane Development Kit) which maximizes system performance through efficient data processing in user space.

Industry support and accessibility

AMD partners with leading OEM and ODM manufacturers such as Cisco and IBM to deliver these groundbreaking processors to the market.

Lukasz Bromirski, a manager at Cisco, says:
“We chose AMD EPYC Embedded 9005 series processors for our advanced firewall products because they offer extremely high performance, scalability up to 192 cores, and high memory and I/O bandwidth.”

Launch date and future prospects

AMD EPYC Embedded 9005 series processors are expected to be available in second quarter 2025.
