Geijerskolan in Malmö wins Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race

They won the Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race 2024! They won the Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race 2024!

After an exciting final, the winner of the first edition of Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race now appointed! Class 5A on Geijerskolan in Malmö took home the victory after impressing the jury with its creativity, technical innovation and the solution's potential to improve everyday life.

Over 150 school classes participated in the innovation competition

This year's competition involved over 150 middle school classes from all over Sweden, from Luleå in the north to Skanör/Falsterbo in the south. The students were tasked with developing a innovation that makes their city and everyday life more fun, better, safer and easier.

Ten finalist entries were presented to the jury, which consisted of experts in technology and innovation. The jury, led by Magnus Goransson, known from TV4's LEGO Masters, had a tough task of choosing the winner from among all the creative and innovative entries.

The winner: Rocket Timer – a solution for the future

After careful consideration, the jury's choice fell on Rocket Timer, an innovation that stood out a little bit. The jury's motivation was:

An innovation competition for future technology talents

Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race has been a success. Work is already underway on next year's competition, and interest from schools around the Sweden continues to grow.

Johan Glennmo, Chairman of the Board of Sigma Group, who is behind the initiative, says:

“We have seen an incredible breadth and depth of entries. The young participants have shown an impressive understanding of technology and innovation, which makes us very hopeful for the future. And we are so happy to announce that we run the competition this year too.”

Technology and innovation in schools – an investment for the future

The competition Experts of Tomorrow Innovation Race is part of Sigma's initiative to increase interest in technology among young peopleWith a worrying decline in technology interest in middle school, the goal is to inspire middle school students to explore technology and innovation at an early stage.

By allowing students to work creatively with real problems Sigma hopes to pave the way for future engineers and technical experts.
