CES 2025: Samsung's AI robot ball with projector is real and ready to roll in 2025

Samsung's Ballie made waves at CES 2020 as a home robot concept that could one day roam your home. Last year, Samsung brought it back to the tech show to say it gave the device a projector that could stream information and content to various surfaces. On CES 2025 Here in Las Vegas, it's taking things a step further, announcing that it will ship the rolling robot this year in the United States.

We don't have the price or release date yet, but during a presentation the Wall-E The robot could share information about Las Vegas attractions, turn on lights and various smart home products with voice command, and project the movie Uncharted onto a nearby wall.

When asked to “make the screen bigger,” Ballie turned around to find another wall on which to project a larger image. The device has built-in speakers for audio.

In addition to voice controls, Ballie also recognizes your “foot presses” on a virtual button to complete a task, like saying OK or “show me more.” An array of cameras and sensors make this virtual interaction possible. After being presented with two wines and asked which would go better with steak, Ballie could use your “foot presses” to ask follow-up questions and eventually make a recommendation.

CES 2025: The coolest gadgets and concepts we've seen so far

Samsung isn't the first company to try to bring robots into the home. In recent years, Amazon has sold the Astro home robot, which is powered by Alexa and can move around the home, but today it's only selling the device for $1,600 by "invitation only." LG has similarly shown off its home robot ambitions at previous events. CES trade shows, but it is unclear when or if these products will ever be available.

Even Apple has been rumored to be expanding into the smart home, with a report last year suggesting it was looking into the space. More recent rumors have claimed that Apple could share news about new smart home products as soon as March.
