Swedish-developed IoT takes the next step with expanded sensor support

Swedish-developed IoT takes the next step with expanded sensor support Swedish-developed IoT takes the next step with expanded sensor support

Induo expands with flexible IoT solutions and presents additional ready-to-deploy IoT-package to make everyday life easier for businesses and organizations. Thanks to support for a wide range of wireless sensors and a smart gateway, the boundaries of local IoT networks with sensors are pushed.

Swedish innovation takes IoT to a new level

Induo's hub for many IoT solutions is the Swedish-developed and Swedish-made AKKR8 IoT sensor/gateway. By expanding the support for additional wired and wireless sensors in this gateway, the application possibilities are increased and the flexibility of the solution is broadened. The latest additions include industrial sensors for measuring temperature, identifying objects and detecting when objects are moving. This complements previous sensors that can be used as water temperature sensors, water leak detectors and pipe flushing counters as well as for advanced air quality measurements. There is now a wide range of sensors that can be easily combined in the same system.

– Many IoT solutions are limited to solving a specific task or measuring an area. The solution for those who want to measure more is often to buy another gateway or a new end-to-end solution. This is neither sustainable nor flexible and creates lock-in effects where data cannot be reconciled, says Ulf Seijmer, Chief Innovation Officer at Induo and co-owner of AKKR8 who developed the gateway solution.

By combining these sensors, solutions are created that meet multiple needs. Retrofitting systems with IoT provides new insights and opportunities for change. Some examples are:

Manufacturing company

Running a small manufacturing company can present many challenges. Where are various assets? What is the air quality like? Is the water pump starting properly, and is there a risk of water freezing in technical facilities? By installing a gateway both indoors and outdoors, you can monitor everything from pallet placement to water leaks and air quality.

Elderly care at home

When elderly or sick people are left to fend for themselves at home, sensors can provide invaluable insights and early warnings. Has the person gotten out of bed? Is the temperature in the room right? Is a tap being flushed? Deviations are immediately alerted, allowing care interventions to be initiated in a timely manner.

Property heating

Many older houses have outdated monitoring systems, which makes it difficult to get a handle on the heating system. What is the temperature on the supply and return pipes? Are there any leaks? Is the hot water temperature optimal? With wireless sensors, systems are installed quickly and provide real-time data without connecting old systems to new ones.

Work environment

The balance between ventilation and work environment is important. IoT sensors can monitor air quality and temperature and track when premises are cleaned. – During tests with Sankt Kors we discovered that TVOC levels increased at certain times. The customer realized that stronger cleaning agents were being used incorrectly. Thanks to the IoT sensors, they were able to fix the problem immediately, which improved the working environment and environmental impact, says Ulf Seijmer.

With AKKR8 and its broad support for sensors offered by Induo a solution that opens up new possibilities for IoT applications in a range of industries. The solutions are designed to provide companies and organizations insight and flexibility – without complicated installations.
