Ahead of Almedalen Week 2026, product agency Framna is launching a free app that gives visitors the digital tool they have long been missing: a personal schedule, dynamic map and a full overview of all program items. The app has been developed as a purely non-profit initiative and went from idea to finished product in just a few weeks, thanks to AI-supported product development.

Every summer, Almedalen Week brings together politicians, journalists, civil society and business for thousands of seminars and debates in Visby. It is Sweden's most important democratic arena, but despite the size of the event, there has so far been a lack of an official, modern app to manage the massive program.

From frustration to action

Coming soon, which has over 600 specialists in Europe and the USA, has participated on site in Visby for several years and has experienced the digital part as a recurring bottleneck.

– Finally we decided to stop complaining and do something about it. We are product developers, this is exactly what we do. The difference is that this time we are not doing it on behalf of a customer, but as a free service to everyone who participates in the week, says Marthin Freij, Commercial Director at Framna.

The app is completely free and ad-free. Gotland Region has already shown great interest in the initiative, and Framna's ambition is that the app will eventually become Almedalen Week's official digital tool. There are also more ideas for developing the app with additional features, such as increasing interaction between Almedalen visitors.

AI cut development time from months to weeks

Building a complete and stable event app of this scale usually takes months. By integrating AI tools throughout the development chain, Framna's team managed to do the job in a fraction of the time.

– We carried with us the insights from last year Almedalen Week, and realized that with the help of AI, combined with sharp design and development, we could actually build a finished app in just a few weeks. This is not a simple prototype, but a polished and finished product that is ready to be used immediately in the Almedalsvimlet. We wanted to solve a genuine problem and at the same time show what modern product development is capable of today, says Marthin Freij.

Facts: Almedalen by Framna

The app is available for free download via App Store (iOS) and Google Play (Android). More information is available at: framna.com/almedalen-by-framna
