IT and consulting firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has entered into a strategic partnership with AI company Anthropic. The collaboration will help enterprise clients use Anthropic's AI model Claude at scale. TCS will set up a dedicated business unit focused on delivering customer value and joint industry solutions using the Claude models.
In regulated industries, many AI initiatives often stop at the pilot stage, where the demands for precision, scrutiny, and oversight are much higher. The partnership is designed to overcome these obstacles. By combining TCS expertise in governance and implementation, companies should be able to confidently use Claude in real operations, not just in the experimental stage.
TCS will provide Claude to 50,000 of its own employees in technology, finance, legal, marketing and sales. By using the technology internally, TCS will gain direct insights that can be applied to help its clients.
Together, TCS and Anthropic will offer AI solutions and services to multiple industries, including finance, public sector, life sciences, healthcare, aviation and telecom. They will jointly develop solutions for specific workflows, modernization and improved customer experience, supported by TCS consulting, engineering and operations services.
The partnership in practice
The partnership also includes specific solutions. In the UK, TCS subsidiary Diligenta will use Claude to improve the customer experience for its 22 million pension customers. In India, the TCS iON platform, which currently handles 75 million annual tests (including large-scale university entrance exams and government recruitment tests), will now also offer training and certification in Claude to build an AI-ready workforce.
"The value of enterprise AI comes from understanding the business context, managing complex systems, and applying deep AI expertise. By combining Claude with our industry expertise and engineering knowledge, we will help customers get to production faster, especially in industries where trust and compliance are critical.“", says K Krithivasan, President and CEO of TCS.
“We built Claude to be secure, reliable and helpful, especially in contexts where precision is paramount. This partnership deepens our commitment to India, our second largest market, as TCS brings Claude to businesses and professionals in the region and globally, including 50,000 of its own employees“", says Dario Amodei, co-founder and CEO of Anthropic.
“This partnership reflects our shared belief that AI will be fundamental and transformative for businesses worldwide. By combining Anthropic’s capabilities with the scale and trust capital of the Tata Group, we will accelerate the transformation of businesses and equip India’s youth with the skills to lead in the AI era.“", says N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons.
