AI developments are changing the demands that businesses place on computers. It's no longer just about faster processors or better battery life. More and more organizations want to be able to run advanced AI models locally, without sensitive information having to leave their own IT environment.
It was also one of the clearest messages when Acer presented its latest innovations during next@Acer in connection with IFA 2026 in Berlin.
The new products include compact systems for local AI workflows, a new Veriton AI workstation series, and a more advanced generation of the sustainability-focused Vero PC. Together, the products demonstrate how Acer seeks to reconcile performance, data sovereignty, repairability, and longer product lifespan.
Local AI becomes a strategic business issue
One of the most interesting news is the Acer SFF RTX Spark, a compact desktop computer based on Nvidia's new RTX Spark platform.
Designed for demanding AI workflows, the system offers up to one petaflop of AI performance, according to Acer. It can be equipped with up to 128GB of unified memory and is intended for, among other things, local execution of generative and agent-based AI models.
For companies, the ability to process information locally can be of great importance. Data does not always need to be sent to an external cloud service, which can simplify the management of business-critical information, customer data and intangible assets.
On-premises AI doesn’t replace the cloud, but it does give organizations more options. Businesses can choose which workflows to run on-premises and which are better suited for cloud-based processing. The result is a more flexible hybrid model where security, cost, and performance can be weighed against each other.
Veriton combines local resources and cloud services
Acer also introduced the Veriton RI110 AI Mini Workstation, a compact workstation for professional AI environments.
The computer can be equipped with an Intel Core Ultra X7 processor, Intel Arc graphics, up to 96GB of LPDDR5X memory, and up to 4TB of SSD storage. According to Acer, the system can handle AI models with up to 120 billion parameters.
The workstation also connects to Acer Qubi Claw, an agent-based AI workflow solution. The technology is designed to allow AI agents to work in an isolated environment where they can analyze information, plan tasks and execute various actions.
It shows how PC manufacturers are advancing their positions in the AI ecosystem. The competition is no longer just about delivering hardware. Manufacturers also want to offer the software and tools that make local AI capabilities useful in daily work.
The Veriton RI110 AI Mini Workstation is expected to be available in Europe in the first quarter of 2027.
Europe lags behind in agent-based AI
Massimiliano Rossi, Vice President of Commercial Operations, Services and Product Business Unit for Acer EMEA, describes the demand for advanced AI systems as rapidly growing but still uneven.
Orders may come in larger volumes from individual organizations, while the broader European market is still at an earlier stage. At the same time, Acer sees a clear difference between Europe and North America, where the introduction of products for local and agent-based AI is further along.

The difference can be partly explained by the investment climate. European companies need to deal with economic uncertainty, higher hardware prices and extensive data protection and compliance requirements. At the same time, these very requirements may increase interest in local AI solutions that give organizations greater control over how information is processed.
Acer expects demand to develop gradually during 2027. The company is therefore working with multiple technical platforms from Intel, AMD and Nvidia, among others, instead of tying its offering to a single supplier.
Higher prices are changing the PC market
The European PC market is also being affected by rising costs for memory, storage, processors, energy and logistics, which are putting pressure on established price levels and making it harder for manufacturers to offer more powerful computers without increasing prices.
Acer estimates that the market may decline in terms of the number of units sold. At the same time, a larger proportion of customers are expected to choose more advanced products with longer expected lifespans.
For corporate IT departments, this means that the purchase price becomes less of an isolated issue. Factors such as energy consumption, repairability, support, security and the ability to use the computer for several years become more important for the total cost.
Vero 16 should be easier to repair
The new Acer Vero 16 is a clear example of the change. Previous generations of the Vero series focused primarily on recycled plastic and a relatively accessible price point. The new model has a more luxurious design and a clearer focus on professional users.
The upper casing of the computer is made from 50 percent recycled industrial aluminum and 50 percent aluminum produced with lower carbon emissions. The bottom uses 60 percent post-consumer recycled plastic.
Acer is also expanding on its previous focus on reduce, reuse and recycle by adding reparability as a fourth principle.
The Vero 16 features a tool-free chassis, replaceable storage and battery, and components designed to simplify serviceability. The design also allows for motherboard replacement, extending the computer's technical lifespan.
This is an important development for companies looking to reduce both electronic waste and the costs of regularly replacing entire computer fleets.
Sustainability must provide measurable business value
Massimiliano Rossi points to a central challenge for sustainable technology: many customers demand more sustainable products, but the willingness to pay a clear price premium is limited.
Acer therefore chooses to position the Vero 16 higher in the market. The idea is that repairability, longer service life and better material selection will create tangible value that can justify the investment.
For business customers, this argument can be more compelling than the use of recycled materials alone. If the computer can last longer, be repaired more easily, and be upgraded without having to replace the entire unit, it will impact both the total cost of ownership and the organization's environmental performance.
The Acer Vero 16 is expected to be available in Europe in the first quarter of 2027.
IT Industry Analysis
Acer's presentation in Berlin shows that the line between the personal computer, the workstation and the local AI infrastructure is blurring.
This is particularly relevant for European companies. The demands for data protection, digital sovereignty and control over business-critical information mean that local AI can have a greater strategic importance here than in markets where the cloud is still the obvious first choice.
At the same time, the solutions must be economically justifiable. Companies are unlikely to invest in new AI computers simply because the technology is available. They need clear use cases, measurable productivity gains, and secure management of both data and AI agents.
Acer is positioning itself for this evolution by combining local computing power with hybrid solutions, repairability and support for multiple processor platforms. The success of this strategy will be determined not only by the performance of the hardware, but also by how easily enterprises and channel partners can transform the technology into working solutions.
