The agreement will strengthen the bank's AI capabilities, modernize the IT environment and accelerate the development of innovative banking services for both customers and employees.
Danske Bank expands its long-term collaboration with Amazon Web Services (AWS) as part of the bank's strategy Forward '28. The new agreement will accelerate the development and implementation of AI-powered banking services, while increasing productivity and modernizing the technical infrastructure.
Through the collaboration, Danske Bank will continue to modernize its IT systems, strengthen its cloud infrastructure and further develop its data platforms. The goal is to create a more flexible and scalable technical foundation that enables the faster development and delivery of new digital services.
– Following the latest update to our Forward '28 strategy, our ambition to provide customers with access to the latest technology is stronger than ever. This agreement gives us early access to AWS innovations in cloud services and AI, along with global engineering expertise. We are already seeing clear results in how we develop the products and services our customers demand, and I am confident that the value will continue to grow, says Frans Woelders, operations manager at Danske Bank.
Joint development drives AI innovation
A central part of the new phase is an increased focus on joint innovation between Danske Bank and AWS. The approach has already played an important role in the development of the migration platform that enabled a rapid transition of the bank's applications to the cloud.
Now, the same model is being used to develop generative AI solutions. An early example is so-called exception-based services, where AI functions developed together with the business can be reused across multiple business areas. This reduces the time from idea to production and makes it easier to introduce controlled and scalable AI solutions throughout the organization.
– We collaborate with Danske Bank in several strategic areas. The first phase was about building the cloud and data platform required to support the bank's long-term ambitions. Through the expanded partnership, Amazon Bedrock and Amazon Bedrock AgentCore to give the bank access to secure, scalable and flexible AI. Danske Bank will have access to hundreds of AI models, enterprise-grade data protection and a platform that can grow from experimentation to production, says Tanuja Randery.
Will strengthen the bank's position in the Nordic region
Danske Bank sees the collaboration as an important part of its ambition to become a leading AI and technology bank in the Nordics. By combining cloud technology, data and artificial intelligence, the bank wants to create better customer experiences, streamline internal processes and build a future-proof technology platform.
