The AI arms race has begun – but beware of using DeepSeek

Then consider the risks of Chinese AI models being trained on all your data. Given that DeepSeek is already limiting its registrations due to a cyberattack, one has to wonder if they have sufficient security and clear rules to protect your integrity.

There is no doubt that we are now seeing the start of an AI arms race. President Trump has announced a $500 billion investment coming to the United States through a collaboration between Softbank, Oracle and OpenAI, and many more will follow. In short, this will force an innovation boom. The mention of Sputnik in this context is a perfect analogy: Although Russia was first in space, the West took over and became dominant. The nuclear arms race and the “Star Wars” initiative under Reagan bankrupted the Soviet Union. Although it is almost impossible to bankrupt China, the West can, with joint efforts, surpass them in innovation.
