TCS takes over Elopak's global IT operations in multi-year agreement

Tata Consultancy Services becomes Elopak's global IT partner in a multi-year agreement that includes AI, automation, cloud services and modernization of the company's IT operations.

Tata Consultancy Services has signed a multi-year agreement with Norwegian Elopak to take over and modernize the company's global IT operations. Elopak manufactures paper-based packaging and filling equipment with operations in over 40 countries and customers in more than 70 markets.

What the agreement covers

TCS becomes Elopaks strategic IT partners and shifts operations to a process-centric model. This means that IT support is organized around the business processes rather than individual systems – the idea is that IT should be closer to what the business actually prioritizes, not just keeping the systems running individually.

The agreement includes a unified service desk (instead of multiple separate support functions), an upgrade of core business systems, and the introduction of TCS’ AI suite Cognix. Cognix automates operational tasks and handles data analytics, and is built on TCS’ Machine First philosophy: automation first, people where needed.

Link to Elopak's strategy

Elopak is aiming for 2030 with three goals: to grow faster than the market, strengthen its position in paper-based packaging and reduce its dependence on plastic. The IT agreement is intended to give the company a technical base that makes it easier to adapt when the market changes, instead of IT becoming a bottleneck.

Merethe Johansen, CIO at Elopak, says: “The partnership with TCS is a step forward for our digital ambitions. We are modernizing the IT landscape and using AI to improve efficiency and user experience, in line with our 2030 vision of above-market growth.”

Anupam Singhal, head of the manufacturing sector at TCS, says: “Businesses need digital foundations that can adapt on an ongoing basis. Through this partnership, we are helping Elopak modernize its IT operations with AI, automation and cloud to increase agility and improve user experience across its global operations. We look forward to supporting Elopak’s growth strategy and sustainability ambitions.”
