The Australian electricity grid company Essential Energy has chosen Gomeros connected control equipment SIPP for a larger data centerproject north of Canberra. The project, which is Essential Energy's first of its kind, involves a large so-called zone transformer station that uses environmentally friendly ester oil to cool the transformers. In the event of a leak from the transformer, Gomero's SIPP Node works effectively to detect both ester and mineral oil. SIPP is currently the only approved technology to be able to detect both ester and mineral oil down to 1 PPM. Essential Energy has signed the new agreement with Gomero's local partner KingHill.

The automated environmental protection of the oil catchment pit under the transformer is an important part of the digitalization of maintenance work and meets the increasingly high environmental requirements for critical infrastructure. Essential Energy has been using this for a long time. SIPP at several of its transformer stations.

Demanding market that lies far ahead

That Essential Energy again chooses SIPP for a project that is in line with their long-term strategy around digitization and green transition feels like an important success. This is especially true given that Australia is a market that has come a long way and where very high environmental and safety requirements are placed on participating actors. The deal is also proof that our investment in data center as an important growth segment is starting to show results. It is a sector where we see potential in all markets, says Gomero CEO Jan-Eric Nilsson.
