Acronis, a global leader in cyber protection, today announces the launch of Acronis GenAI Protection, a monitoring and security solution that enables managed service providers (MSPs) to govern the use of generative AI in their customers’ environments, prevent exposure of sensitive data, and protect against malicious prompt manipulation. Acronis GenAI Protection is the first phase of Acronis Cyber Workspace, with additional capabilities planned for launch that will deliver a protected AI workspace, natively integrated into the Acronis platform.
As organizations rapidly adopt generative AI tools, businesses face growing risks related to data leakage, shadow AI, and malicious prompt manipulation. Many consumer AI tools lack the visibility required in enterprise environments, while enterprise solutions are not designed to be delivered and managed by MSPs. Acronis GenAI Protection addresses this gap by providing partners with a solution built specifically to monitor and secure the use of generative AI in SMB environments.
Monitoring and security for AI delivered via MSPs
Acronis GenAI Protection is designed to be deployed, managed and packaged commercially by MSPs. Through a centralized console integrated into the Acronis platform, service providers can monitor AI usage in customer environments, including policy compliance, reporting and risk mitigation, while protecting interactions with generative AI alongside data, applications and endpoints.
”The adoption of generative AI is accelerating, but it introduces new risks that enterprises are not fully equipped to manage,” said Gaidar Magdanurov, President at Acronis. ”MSPs are uniquely positioned to help enterprises safely embrace AI, but until now they have lacked the right tools to effectively monitor and manage it. GenAI Protection enables MSPs to transform AI security into a managed service, creating new revenue opportunities while protecting customers from new risks.”
Built-in protection for the use of generative AI
Acronis GenAI Protection provides visibility and security for AI usage without requiring additional point solutions or enterprise-level complexity.
Key features include:
- Visibility over shadow AI usage: Discover and monitor generative AI applications used in customer environments to understand usage levels and risk exposure.
- Protecting sensitive data in AI interactions: Inspect prompts for sensitive data like PII or PHI and prevent unauthorized transfer to public or unapproved AI tools.
- Protection against prompt injection and AI abuse: Detect and block malicious prompts designed to manipulate AI behavior or compromise workflows.
”AI has now become mainstream for SMBs, with over half using AI tools – a development driven by marketing and sales in pursuit of scalability, productivity and efficiency,” said Matthew Ball, Chief Analyst at Omdia. ”While the majority of adoption is via SaaS, the growing use of consumer AI, sanctioned or not, is generating new security risks that create new requirements that MSPs must actively manage.”
As AI evolves, Acronis plans to introduce additional AI-powered capabilities to protect, manage and automate AI services and tools within the broader Cyber Workspace offering. These enhancements are designed to increase productivity and automation, enabling MSPs to streamline daily operations while strengthening data and asset protection.
Acronis GenAI Protection is now generally available globally.
