Sigma Industry West celebrates a decade of success

Sigma Industry West, which delivers cutting-edge expertise in product development, has since grown into a group of 7 companies employing over 650 people. Today, the company celebrates its 10th anniversary.

In 2014, several new companies were started within Sigma Group to broaden the service offering. One of these was Sigma Industry West, which was founded 10 years ago today, February 1, with a focus on delivering engineering services within product development. Right from the start, the ambition was to build a personal and entrepreneurial company with the advantages of belonging to a larger group.

– 10 years later, we have managed to maintain the personal climate and created a culture with a lot of warmth and energy. We have also preserved our flat organization, where the majority of the management from the start is still there, says Jens Wickström, Group CEO of Sigma Industry West Group.

With a focus on employees, there have been numerous trips and events, but they have also taken the plunge with their own rock band and the popular SigmaTruck, a food truck that not only serves delicious treats but also proudly has won the Swedish Employer Branding Championship.

Sigma Industry West Group currently consists of 7 companies and had a turnover of 740 MSEK in 2023. The group employs over 650 people, who are involved in projects with world-leading customers in a number of different industries. It is a preferred supplier to the major product companies and has over the years received several quality awards and increased confidence to run larger customer projects in-house.

– It is with great joy and pride that I look back on everything we have achieved when we built the company together. It would not have been possible without our fantastic employees, who are real stars! The majority of all recruitments we have made over the years come from internal tips, I really see that as proof that people enjoy working with us, says Jens Wickström.

Several subsidiaries

The strategy has been to build new companies within different areas of expertise. Already the year after the start, in 2015, the company was founded Sigma Embedded Engineering which focuses on embedded systems, connectivity and software development. The company has had steady growth since its inception and today has 120 employees with operations in Sweden, the USA and Egypt.

In 2016, the opportunity was given to acquire the Swedish part of Aker Solutions. The company changed its name to Sigma Energy & Marine and is today Sweden's largest marine engineering consultancy with many international clients. It is also at the absolute forefront of the process industry and strength calculations. Since 2018, the company has had a Norwegian subsidiary with offices in Oslo and Stavanger.

The latest addition to the SIW family is CREW by Sigma which delivers expertise outside of engineering areas, such as purchasing, logistics, IT, finance and HR.

– Our personal approach and how we organize ourselves in smaller companies creates commitment and an attractive corporate culture. We are creative and not afraid to try new things, which means that we will continue to grow and develop our business. There is a great need for expertise in product development, digitalization, electrification and other areas where we have a leading position, says Magnus Liljeqvist, Head of Marketing & Communications.
