Check Point acquires Lakera and launches comprehensive protection for AI

Check Point and Lakera – partnership for cybersecurity and AI solutions Check Point and Lakera – partnership for cybersecurity and AI solutions
Check Point and Lakera collaborate to strengthen cybersecurity and AI protection.

The IT security company Check Point Software strengthens its cybersecurity offering by acquiring the Swiss-American company Lakera. The deal will Checkpoint one of the first players in the world to offer comprehensive protection for artificial intelligence – from language models to autonomous agents.

As generative AI is rapidly integrated into core business processes, the threat landscape is also growing. Language models and AI agents can be manipulated, data can be leaked, and new risks arise when multiple systems collaborate or make their own decisions.

Lakera has built an AI-based security platform that combines real-time protection with cutting-edge research. The company has research centers in Zurich and San Francisco and is already used by several world-leading organizations. The solutions protect language models, AI agents and workflows against attacks such as data leakage, model manipulation and malicious prompts. The platform is also reinforced by Gandalf, the world's largest network for simulating attacks on AI systems.

“AI is changing every business process, but it also introduces new attack surfaces,” says Nadav Zafrir, CEO of Check Point Software Technologies. We chose Lakera because they bring AI-based security, superior accuracy, and scalable speed. Together we set the standard for how companies can embrace and trust AI.

Through the acquisition, Lakera's technology is integrated into Checkpoints Infinity Architecture. The result is one of the industry's first end-to-end AI security concepts. It protects everything from AI models to agents and data, enabling companies to scale up their AI usage without compromising on safety.

– Lakera was built specifically for the AI era, with real-time protection and research at its core,” said David Haber, Co-Founder and CEO of Lakera. Joining Check Point allows us to accelerate and scale our mission globally. Together, we will protect LLMs, generative AI and agents with the speed, precision, and protections that businesses need to embrace AI with confidence.

The deal is expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of 2025.
